DR650 FAQ - Luggage & Accessories
How does the Vapor Speedometer/Tachometer work?
I am interested in the Vapor Speedometer/Tachometer for the DR650SE that you sell. I had some questions about how it works and attatches to the bike: First - Does it have a trip odometer on it? Second - How does it read the speed: connects to factory speed cable or another means? Lastly, How does it read the engine RPM when the bike doesn't have a tach from factory?
Also, I am planning on ordering a lot of items for my DR and would like to get it all in one place. Do you offer any kind of dicounts for large orders? Things I would be ordering would be: IMS tank, Corbin seat, windscreen, skid plate, center stand, tank bag, and some other small misc. items.
A:The Vapor is a great unit and I have one on my personal bike. First - yes, the Vapor does have a trip odometer. Second - speed is measured with a magnet attached to the brake rotor and a sensor attached to the fork leg. You can calibrate this set-up very accurately regardless of your wheel size. Last - the RPM is picked up with a sensing wire attached to the coil.
If you send me a complete list of exactly what you want we can put together a package price on everything.
